How to apply SRK method for Flood Routing ?

The fourth-order Runge-Kutta method (SRK) is a numerical method for estimating the solution to a first-order differential equation. The SRK technique generates a final estimate of the solution based on four slope estimates: k1: The slope at the beginning of the time step k2: The slope at the midpoint of the time step k3: Another estimate of the slope at the midpoint of the time step k4: The slope at the endpoint of the time step  This post discusses the SRK approach and how it is utilised for Flood Routing instead of graphical methods such as Pul's or Goodrich's approach. How to select the best hydrologic software for Free ??

There are many hydrologic models available that can be freely downloaded and used to achieve your research objective. However, not all the models will serve your purpose. Some features of those models will be unnecessary for one scholar but may be very useful for other researchers. Even then also more the number of features offered by the model more favorable will it be to the researchers. The frequency of updates will be another parameter that must be included when making a selection among the available hydrologic models. Higher the frequency more preferred it will be. As more updates mean the model is developing itself. The developers are still trying to improve the model functionality, which is a welcome feature of open-source models. The availability of tutorials or help files is another important parameter that is also very influential in selecting a hydrologic model for using in a real-time research problem. Accuracy and reliability are also significant. When the error of the pre...

How to conserve water with the help of W.C.C ?

‘The world is running out of potable water and a major policy initiative to guarantee freshwater as a human right is required. In a most interesting article from the Guardian, Jeffery Sachs of the UN's Millennium Project notes the world simply has "no more rivers to take water from". And the near total lack of basic water policy for the future is noted, such as how aquifers to be recharged are and how to sustain ground water use? For some time I have thought that a major water shortage crisis that ravishes millions may, even more so than climate change (though it may be the cause), galvanize the world to realize the extent to which the global biosphere teeters upon the edge of ruin. Then we may see the surge of personal lifestyle changes and policy prescriptions from governments and businesses adequate to achieve global ecological sustainability. The article notes that not only are China's and India's water supplies threatened but their food production as well. T...
